The Florida Department of Health gave the state’s medical marijuana industry permission to sell edible cannabis products this week.

The rules were published by the FDOH’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) on Wednesday.

The state’s licensed Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers (dispensaries) can now sell and produce THC-infused edible products like cookies and gummies.

The rules state the THC-infused edibles must be lozenges, baked goods, gelatins, chocolates or drink powders.

THC-infused Products that have a resemblance to any already commercially available Non-THC-infused Products will not be permitted. The state said the edibles shall also be produced in a manner to minimize the color intensity and other color and visual characteristics attractive to children.

The rules take effect immediately as of August 26th, 2020
