Get Ready Florida, The Largest Medical Cannabis Conference  Will Be Here in  on Feburary 22nd 2019

Conference agenda:

Giles says, “Our goal is to help educate those who are curious, and to help those who may be afraid to talk directly to their doctors; we also want to provide continuing education to health professionals and physicians who want to learn more about medical marijuana,” adding, “It’s a great industry, but it’s confusing to many.”The three-day event is known as the Florida Medical Cannabis Conference (FMCC) and was founded by friends Jill Giles and Dawn Yarnell. Their mission, simply put, is to educate a rapidly growing demographic of patients, doctors, and other health professionals.

Those sentiments are felt by many as Florida’s newest industry continues to grow. The FMCC will take place in Orlando at the Marriott World Center the weekend of Feb. 22-24, this will mark the fourth year of the event.

Giles and Yarnell have been advocates of medical marijuana for years. In 2003, doctors gave Yarnell a diagnosis of systemic lupus, shortly thereafter Giles suggested trying cannabis to help alleviate her symptoms.

“She dragged me into it kicking and screaming, but now I’m off eight of my nine medicines, and I’ve been seizure free for almost two years,” recalls Yarnell, mentioning, “I’ve gone from being hospitalized every three months to a quality of life I’ve not had for 15 years.”

Once they had seen the positive effects medicinal cannabis could bring to patients, Giles and Yarnell knew they had to spread awareness. This is why they started the FMCC, and how they’ve been able to bring people from so many different industries together to learn about the same subject. At the conference, attendees can expect to hear first-hand stories from speakers as well as gaining a plethora of new information regarding industry standards, legislation, and more.

“It’s a large industry, but it’s close-knit, so these types of events tend to bring in the same presenters,” noted Giles. “We try to find companies and speakers who are not typically at cannabis expos; that’s what makes us unique.”

The EXPO hall opens at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 22, launching a full weekend of presentations from physicians, lawmakers, business owners and more. Friday is also known as “Patient Day” which will feature a Veterans Panel and discounted tickets will be available. Governor DeSantis is set to speak on Saturday, February 23 at 4:15 pm followed by a separately ticketed VIP dinner with the Governor from 6:00pm-8: 00 pm.

Nearly every subject pertaining to medical cannabis will be discussed at the FMCC, from PTSD to pediatrics, even hospice care. Giles says, “There will be three congruent sessions going on at the same time, so there’s something for everyone, whether [attendee] interest lies in business and regulations, growing and licensing, medical issues or marketing.”

Additional speakers include U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz and Incoming Speaker State Rep. Bob Rommel.
